Ahmed Youssef is a first-generation Egyptian-American who grew up in Leesburg, Virginia. He developed a strong foundation in his hometown, attending Catoctin Elementary and J.L Simpson Middle School. He graduated from Loudoun County High School in 2014 and is a proud recipient of the Loudoun Laurels Foundation scholarship.
Pursuing his passion for technology, Ahmed went on to study Computer Science at Northern Virginia Community College before transferring to the University of Virginia, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in 2018.
Ahmed started his career as a Software Engineer at Raytheon, where he played a key role in developing software that processed critical data from weather satellites operated by NASA and NOAA. This experience not only honed his technical skills but also instilled in him a sense of purpose, as he contributed to projects that had a profound impact on improving human life and the environment.
In 2021, Ahmed joined Meta’s Trust & Safety organization in Washington D.C., where he has been instrumental in building technology that helps keep billions of users safe across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. As a Senior Software Engineer, Ahmed is now leading projects that explore the potential of A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) to enhance Meta’s content moderation capabilities, ensuring a safer online experience for all users.
